I was charged with a felony assault after a bar fight in New York City and was facing up to 15 years in jail. A lot of people can talk about Troy’s superior courtroom skills, but his tireless advocacy outside the courtroom was second to none. Troy was in constant negotiations on my behalf with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and was able to negotiate a misdemeanor plea for me, which kept me out of jail and I was able to keep my job – even a no-time felony plea would have meant I was fired and ruined. Given that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office was originally seeking a felony plea and 3 1/2 years in state prison, the no jail time misdemeanor deal Troy worked out for me was nothing short of a miracle. Thanks to Troy, I am still employed in the same position as before the incident. If you are in serious trouble there is no one better than Troy A. Smith
